Sampy wins men’s pole vault at Clemson’s Tiger Paw Invite

CLEMSON, South Carolina – Pole vaulter Christian Sampy highlighted the Cougars’ final day at the Tiger Paw Invite at Clemson University on Saturday.

Sampy took first place in the men’s pole vault event clearing 5.47m. The personal best earned him the title in the event and placed him tenth nationally.

Competing against the best in the country, the men’s 4×400 relay team clocked 3:08.08. A team of tyrell valentine, Jordan BookerDJ Akindele and Quivell Jordan crossed the finish line in third position.

Booker also finished the men’s 200m with an indoor personal best of 20.87. The junior finished in ninth place while Edward Sumler finished in 14th place with a 21.07.

Valentine finished ninth in the men’s 400 with a time of 46.78. The time was an indoor personal best for Valentine and Jordan took 23rd place with a time of 47.66.

With the regular indoor season coming to an end, Houston’s track and field team turns its attention to the American Conference Indoor Championships.
