O’Connor breaks own W&L indoor pole vault record

SALEM, Virginia – Senior Joe o’connor (Henrico, VA / Douglas Freeman) broke his own school record in the pole vault to set the pace for Washington and Lee’s men’s track and field on day one of the Bast-Cregger Invitational Friday.

Highlights of the meeting

  • O’Connor climbed 4.84m (15’10.50 “) to claim first place in the event, breaking his school record of 4.83m set on March 1, 2020. He also set a new mark of installation, breaking the previous record of 4.65m. Later Friday, O’Connor finished fifth in the high jump at 1.85m (6’0.75 “).
  • The Generals clinched three of the top eight places in the 5,000m. Senior Ethan Bernstein (Bethlehem, PA / Saucon Valley) was first in 15: 32.11, second year Josh fingerhut (Havertown, PA / Haverford Township) was fifth (15: 51.53) and the first year Thomas kallen (Charlottesville, Va. / Western Albemarle) was eighth in 15: 58.99.
