Current Stable Release: 4.0
Guadalinex is an Ubuntu derivative with many enhancements, focused on home users and education. Some of those enhancements have made their way into Ubuntu and are now part of Ubuntu features. As Ubuntu itself, Guadalinex is a LiveCD you can run as such or installed in your hard disk. A Mini edition is available for older or low resources computers.
Sponsored by Andalusian Regional Government (Junta de Andalucia) of Spain, it's currently deployed to more than 200.000 computers at schools, telecenters, and other official projects.
[edit] Some interesting new enhancements are:
- AMIGU: MS-Windows data migration assistant (mail, bookmarks, documents, configurations)
- New Festival spanish voices (male and female)
- Easy software install right from a web link
- 3G (UMTS/GPRS) connection assistant
- Removable Storage Reminder (systray applet)
Oh! And Guadalinex has a cute mascot, "Andatuz":
