Compositing window manager
From TheLinuxVault
A Compositing window manager is a window manager that also facilitates the use of compositing effects for window management. While Xfwm was the first widely publicized window manager of this type for X11, the Luminocity demo (which was an experimental build of Metacity) was the first X11 window manager with OpenGL support. The first widely known and used compositing window manager was Compiz.
