The AuthenTec AES 2501A is a fingerprint scanner.

Although fingerprint identification is in an early phase of development in GNU/Linux systems, the chip AES2501A/B is well supported and functional. In order to make work this device, execute in a root shell: 

apt-get install aes2501-wy

Then, running aes2501 will allow you to scan and output your fingerprint.
