Audio Playback (network)
From TheLinuxVault
So you've found a music player that satisfies your every need and manages your hundreds of gigabytes of music with ease. Now you want to play your music on multiple computers but have no interest in copying files or carrying around portable hard drives. Luckily, network audio in Linux comes in many forms. Whether you want to share music from a computer in your office to your living room, set up an Internet radio station, or be able to securely access your music library from anywhere with an Internet connection, there is a solution out there for you.
[edit] Music Sharing
Many of the music player applications for Linux have support (either built-in or via plug-in) for iTunes-compatible (DAAP) music sharing. For a local network, this is usually a very convenient way to go, since different music players running on different platforms can all share music, and it requires no setup.
